IB Middle Years Programme (IBMYP)

The IB Middle Years Programme does not have a standardized syllabus and each school can determine the selection of materials and subjects taught. Currently, there is no public exam with IBMYP, though that is due to change in 2015. The IBMYP serves as a preparatory period for students who will later become IB Diploma Programme students in the last two years of secondary school. Interactivity, creative thinking and skill building are the main goals of the IBMYP years.

• Internationally based but must be taken under an IB approved school

• Generally for Grade 7-10 or Year 8-11

• No current externally assessed exams

• Curriculum is determined by individual schools, not the IB Organization

IB Diploma Programme(IBDP)

• The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a two-year educational programme that provides an internationally accepted secondary school qualification for students entering universities. Students may only participate if their school is a recognized IB school.

• All subjects except CAS are assessed using both internal and external assessors. Students will not receive an IB Diploma, regardless of the total score obtained, if they do not complete the core requirements. The externally assessed examinations are given worldwide in May and November. Subjects finish with a standardized series of examinations, usually consisting of two or three timed written examinations.

• Internationally based but must be taken under an IB approved school

• Two-year programme for students Grade 11-12 or Year 12-13

• 6 subjects taken in varying subjects with standardized final exams

• 3 core requirements (Extended Essay / Theory of Knowledge (ToK)/Creativity, Action, Service)

• IB Diploma awarded at completion of all requirements

• to consolidate students’ knowledge.
