Coding Junior (Age 6-9)

Genius Development’s Junior program introduces young creators to technology. They will first learn about the functionality of computers and logical thinking process. Through beginner-friendly and interactive software like iPad-based Scratch* and Makeblock Neuron, students will begin to understand how hardware and software work concurrently to create marvellous projects.

This category marks the beginning of every students' journey in acquiring an essential 21st-century skill. These courses are designed to build a strong foundation in the student’s computational thinking, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills. These skills are of high demand everywhere and vital in their future pursuit of programming.

Coding Senior (Age 9-13)

Advancing forward, students will experience using tools that utilize graphical-programming language. Throughout these courses, they will be gaining valuable programming concepts such as conditional statements, loops, and variables through more hands-on experience. Also, students will be introduced to a variety of hardware that compliments their programming experience. The Genius Development Explorer program inspires technology-savvy primary school students to go beyond mobile and computer gaming, and move to create their own programs that solve real-life problems. With the emphasis on creativity, Genius Development Explorer empowers students to solve problems through technology. Students learn basic computer science concepts and apply these to solve their problem faced daily. Here, students begin transitioning from graphical-based programming tools to syntax-based programming languages such as Python, HTML, and JavaScript. Students will also learn WordPress, a basic web designing skill that can be used to build webpages. Throughout these courses, concepts introduced will be revisited frequently and students will be exposed to a variety of hardware to be incorporated into their programming experience. Furthermore, they will also be given the option to proceed their programming journey through a more intensive gamified version through Minecraft through self-exploration!

Coding Master (Age 13-17)

The Genius Development Creator program lays a solid foundation of computer science concepts and theories through developing technically challenging programs. With an emphasis on hands-on development and bringing ideas to reality, the program guides students to deepen their understanding of key current topics in technology, including privacy, security and social networking. Also, students will be taught about the dangers of the internet and how to use the internet safely and responsibly.

This program covers computational thinking on 5 essential areas which are Creativity, Abstraction, Web Programming, Internet and Impact.

This category of courses serves to accommodate students regardless of their coding experience. This selection of courses explores both ends of the spectrum: from graphical-based programming language to syntax-based programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, C++. Students will be exposed to a variety of hardware to complement their coding experience. 

As a final project, students will discuss with their mentors on building a project that can be adapted to small businesses. After this project, students will be fully qualified to be an all-rounded programmer.

Information & Communications Technology (Age 5-17)

ICT, or information and communications technology (or technologies), is the infrastructure and components that enable modern computing.

Although there is no single, universal definition of ICT, the term is generally accepted to mean all devices, networking components, applications and systems that combined allow people and organizations (i.e., businesses, nonprofit agencies, governments and criminal enterprises) to interact in the digital world.

Components of an ICT system
ICT encompasses both the internet-enabled sphere as well as the mobile one powered by wireless networks. It also includes antiquated technologies, such as landline telephones, radio and television broadcast -- all of which are still widely used today alongside cutting-edge ICT pieces such as artificial intelligence and robotics.

ICT is sometimes used synonymously with IT (for information technology); however, ICT is generally used to represent a broader, more comprehensive list of all components related to computer and digital technologies than IT.

The list of ICT components is exhaustive, and it continues to grow. Some components, such as computers and telephones, have existed for decades. Others, such as smartphones, digital TVs and robots, are more recent entries.

ICT commonly means more than its list of components, though. It also encompasses the application of all those various components. It's here that the real potential, power and danger of ICT can be found.


Computer science (Age 5-17)

Computer science is the study of the foundational principles and practices of computation and computational thinking and their application in the design and development of computer systems. This syllabus aims to encourage the development of computational thinking, that is thinking about what can be computed and how by the use of abstraction and decomposition.

This syllabus provides a general understanding and perspective of the development of computer technology and systems, which will inform their decisions and support their participation in an increasingly technologically dependent society; It also provides the necessary skills and knowledge to seek employment in areas that use computer science; Students’ knowledge and understanding of computer science can be developed through the entry to higher education, where this qualification will provide a useful foundation for further study of computer science or more specialist aspects of computer science.
